HER MIT, August 2019

“An extraordinary experience. I drove up to Natasha MacVoy’s in Dursley on a Thursday and dropped off a boot-load of stuff. It must have been about 3 years’ worth of work. I drove back again on the Friday and Tash had curated a show.

The work no longer looked like the content of my studio. She hadn’t just pulled out the best work, she had pulled out the meaning. It was like the best possible exercise in reflection.

I still feel the exhibition laid bare my anxiety as a parent. The work described a narrative relating to change and my family; the contradiction apparent in functioning as both lover and carer; the grief of a mother for the child who grows up and will leave… and so much more complex stuff. These themes still resonate and I continue to explore them through my work.”

An artist in her own right of course, Natasha MacVoy is also responsible for the photographs below.
