‘Body as a tool for visual arts research’ (2023) was a four-day residency with workshops in the morning and lab time for experimentation after lunch. Choreographer and performer Katherine Hall structured and led the week’s activities which involved nine visual artists: myself, Alice Sheppard Fidler, Niamh Fahy, Ann-Margreth Bohl, Kamina Walton, Viviana Rossi Caffell, Rebecca Stapleford, Tabatha Andrews and poet Wayne Hill. The project received support (A TIME SPACE MONEY grant) from the fabulous a_n, Artists’ Information Company.
”I've wanted to do this since working as a documentary drawer on LIC's 'Raw Roar Rare' festival at the Bluecoat in 2010…I am grateful to artist Emily Speed and dancers Mary Prestidge and Jonathan Burrows for conversations which have fed this project.”
